The Commander Tavern – The Walking Dead Secret Lair | EDH Set Analysis – A Flight [S01E14]
Greetings, everyone! Welcome to The Commander Tavern! I am Demented Kirby and this is the 14th episode of one of the series on this channel, A Flight. This series samples the cards from a newly released set and are analyzed for their usefulness in the commander format.
Although this episode of A Flight does go over how these cards impact the commander format, it’s basically just a continuation of what I talked about in my Barkeep Upkeep episode here: https://youtu.be/VqTfQGcoF9k
This is a predatory business practice and while the product isn’t inherently bad (there are subjective opinions aplenty all over the internet), objectively everyone is in agreement that these types of business practices should not be tolerated. That being said, the enemy is not each other and our fellow members of the community, but instead WotC. If you want to play with these cards without buying the product, or want to provide fellow community members with an alternative without insulting them or excluding them from your play sessions, I’m Cute @feuer_ameise on Twitter prepared some amazing MtG IP alters for these cards that you can find there. ttps://twitter.com/feuer_ameise/status/1313103709078016001
In short, WotC got the message but they don’t care. This is just the first of many. Rick is already part of a busted deck in Legacy and the other cards are fun to build around for commander due to their uniqueness. However, what’s to stop WotC from releasing an even more busted Secret Lair like this one in the future? *sigh*
How do you feel about this particular product? Comment down below! You can also tweet me @CommanderTavern. Do however keep in mind that regardless of how you feel, please take the high road and don’t berate, insult, attack, harass, or exclude players who want these cards. Be civil. Your friends are not the enemy.
