March Commandness Bracket - East Conference Round Two

EDHREC's March Commandness Bracket Tournament continues in round two! In this article, we'll look at who won the matchups from round one in the East conference, and then kick off the voting for round two.

But first, in case you missed the announcement article explaining what this all is, head here to get the lowdown. TL;DR, we're doing a bracket system tournament, but instead of college basketball teams, we're battling the top 64 new commanders from the last five years.

And you decide the winner by voting.

We're well into the tournament now, but if you still want to grab your bracket to print and fill out, head here. If you wanna share your bracket picks or chat with other people on socials about the tournament, use hasthtag #RECMadness.

East Conference - Round One Winners

Before we get into round two for the East conference, let's take a look at the winners of round one.

Match One - Sauron, the Dark LordSauron, the Dark Lord (1) vs Felothar the SteadfastFelothar the Steadfast (16)

Winner: Sauron (62.1%)

Sauron, the Dark Lord

Sauron has a bit of a reputation for being hard to beat. As much as we rooted for Felothar as the underdog, she couldn't withstand the power of the one ring.

Match Two - Toph, the First MetalbenderToph, the First Metalbender (8) vs Shorikai, Genesis EngineShorikai, Genesis Engine (9)

Winner: Toph (54.1%)

Toph, the First Metalbender

Insert jokes about Shorikai being metal, metalbending, blah blah. You get the picture.

Match Three - The NecrobloomThe Necrobloom (5) vs Sidar Jabari of ZhalfirSidar Jabari of Zhalfir (12)

Winner: Necrobloom (63.7%)

The Necrobloom

Sidar forgot to bring his herbicide to this match, so The Necrobloom won handily. Rest easy, good Knight.

Match Four - Valgavoth, Harrower of SoulsValgavoth, Harrower of Souls (4) vs Urza, Chief ArtificerUrza, Chief Artificer (13)

Winner: Valgavoth (69.4%)

Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls

This one was a bit of a shocker to some of the staff here at EDHREC. Maybe not so much that Urza lost, but that he lost so hard.

Match Five - Hashaton, Scarab's FistHashaton, Scarab's Fist (6) vs Arabella, Abandoned DollArabella, Abandoned Doll (11)

Winner: Hashaton (57.5%)

Hashaton, Scarab's Fist

Kudos to Arabella for so quickly taking the top Boros commander spot - at uncommon, no less - but she couldn't stand up to the guy who was, briefly, the top Esper commander.

Match Six - Isshin, Two Heavens as OneIsshin, Two Heavens as One (3) vs Magda, Brazen OutlawMagda, Brazen Outlaw (14)

Winner: Isshin (64.7%)

Isshin, Two Heavens as One

Another shocking win for some of us. I thought Magda was gonna take this one, due to her popularity at all levels of the Bracket system, but Isshin's attack trigger doubling provided a decisive victory.

Match Seven - Wilhelt, the RotcleaverWilhelt, the Rotcleaver (7) vs Go-Shintai of Life's OriginGo-Shintai of Life's Origin (10)

Winner: Wilhelt (61.9%)

Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver

This one was no surprise. Zombies will keep coming back - as they do - in planes all over the multiverse, but Shrines are much less common.

Match Eight - Ms. BumbleflowerMs. Bumbleflower (2) vs Stella Lee, Wild CardStella Lee, Wild Card (15)

Winner: Ms. Bumbleflower (67.9%)

Ms. Bumbleflower

One day someone will humble the Bumble; but it is not this day. The cute Rabbit easily took down the - also cute - Spellslinging cowgirl.

East Conference - Round Two Matchups

Now on to the second round of matches for the East conference. Voting goes for two days, so this round will end on Sunday the 15th at 8:00 am EST. (If you're having trouble seeing the polls below, try reloading the page.)
