<p>The Echoverse has an interesting way of reimagining fan favorite characters, and Vraska is no different. In our normal timeline, we have a Gorgon who turns her enemies into stone; however in <a href="https://edhrec.com/sets/fra"><em>Reality Fracture</em></a>, we're getting <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Vraska, Soul of Stone" href="#" target="_blank">Vraska, Soul of Stone</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>; someone who uses Sculptures to fight those who oppose her.</p>
<p>My name is <a href="https://linktr.ee/pillowfortmtg">Tyler 'Savesya' Bucks</a>, and today we're going to look over a budget 99 for <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Vraska, Soul of Stone" href="#" target="_blank">Vraska, Soul of Stone</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> that you can pick up for about $40 (using <a href="https://partner.tcgplayer.com/c/4913290/1830156/21018?partnerpropertyid=5237567&amp;subId1=edhrec%2Ccardprice&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tcgplayer.com%2Fproduct%2F716707%2Fmagic-reality-fracture-vraska-soul-of-stone">TCGplayer</a> pricing, and excluding the price of the commander, since we're still in prerelease prices). So, let's get into it by meeting the leader of this Bracket 2 deck now!</p>
<h2>What Does Vraska, Soul of Stone Bring to the Table?</h2>

<p>Riding in on the head of a giant Niv Mizzet statue, it's <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Vraska, Soul of Stone" href="#" target="_blank">Vraska, Soul of Stone</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>. For three mana, this legend hits play and gives your artifact creatures vigilance, and makes a 1/1 Sculpture Treasure token when you cast noncreature spells. Both of those abilities are powerful, and Jeskai (<span class="mana-container-container"><span class="mana-container"><i class="ms ms-cost ms-u" style="margin-left: inherit !important;"></i></span><span class="mana-container"><i class="ms ms-cost ms-r" style="margin-left: inherit !important;"></i></span><span class="mana-container"><i class="ms ms-cost ms-w" style="margin-left: inherit !important;"></i></span></span>) is a great color combination for a go-wide artifact deck.</p>
<p>Before we jump into the 99, I wanted to note something about those tokens. Since they're creatures, they'll still have summoning sickness...so, if you were planning on chaining spell after spell together with this legend, unfortunately those Sculptures will need a full turn to catch their stony breath before being cashed in for mana.</p>
<p>All right, with that out of the way, let's get right into it by looking at a few of the cards in this list that'll keep your hand stocked!</p>
<h2>Card Advantage</h2>

<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Demand Answers" href="#" target="_blank">Demand Answers</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: This staple level card gets even better in a list like this, since you can sacrifice a Sculpture token as you resolve the spell, which Vraska will replace right away. That feels like a clean instant speed way to draw a couple cards for only two mana.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Voyage Home" href="#" target="_blank">Voyage Home</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: While this commander can help you flood the board with artifacts, the rest of the 99 is filled with that card type as well, helping this card cost less and less as the game goes on. Gaining life and drawing those cards could just be the thing that pulls you back into a game.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Consider" href="#" target="_blank">Consider</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: Any noncreature spell that gives you access to more cards will be a slam dunk for keeping this deck's engine online. That means that cheap instants like this will put in a lot of work towards helping you dig deeper into the list for a low cost, while making you a Sculpture to surprise your opponents in the process.</li>
</ul>

<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Whirlwind of Thought" href="#" target="_blank">Whirlwind of Thought</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: Here's an enchantment that fits perfectly into the curve of this deck. Once Vraska is in play, this can come down, make you a token, and add card draw to the list of triggers that'll happen when you cast a noncreature spell.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Rent Is Due" href="#" target="_blank">Rent Is Due</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: This one drop is really interesting in the list. Since your commander gives artifact creatures vigilance, they can attack and still be ready to help you pay rent at the end of your turn.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mister Fantastic, Reed Richards" href="#" target="_blank">Mister Fantastic, Reed Richards</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: This deck doesn't only rely on making Sculptures through Vraska. As you look over the list, you'll notice a large variety of tokens that can be created in order to draw a card off of Reed. Getting to a place where one spell becomes a whole host of triggers is where this deck wants to be, and this legend helps with that.</li>
</ul>
<h2>Mana Ramp</h2>

Once you cast this Vehicle, your commander will make a 1/1 token that can immediately jump behind the wheel to help you find a land.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Wayfarer&#039;s Bauble" href="#" target="_blank">Wayfarer&#039;s Bauble</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: Spending only one mana on a noncreature spell is great in this list, since you basically get that investment right back in the form of a Treasure creature. Plus, you get to ramp up a basic right into play in order to push your advantage forward during a game.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Springleaf Drum" href="#" target="_blank">Springleaf Drum</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: I'm sure you noticed that a fun interaction for this deck is playing a spell, getting a token, and utilizing it right away. That is what this Drum assists with, making itself mana neutral the turn it comes down, and then increasing your mana turn after turn from there.</li>
</ul>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Sol Ring"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Arcane Signet"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Everflowing Chalice"></div></div>
<p>This 99 is also filled with classic mana rocks like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sol Ring" href="#" target="_blank">Sol Ring</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Arcane Signet" href="#" target="_blank">Arcane Signet</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, and other staples, since they help this deck snowball and build as the game goes on. <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Everflowing Chalice" href="#" target="_blank">Everflowing Chalice</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> can be used in a tricky way, because it could be cast for zero mana if you really just need to trigger your different value engines by resolving a noncreature spell.</p>
<h2>Making More Tokens</h2>

<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Third Path Iconoclast" href="#" target="_blank">Third Path Iconoclast</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: Here's an ideal turn two play for this deck, since it assists with building up your board with even more artifact tokens, just like your commander. Gaining a couple of new team members whenever you cast a noncreature spell is the sort of thing that'll help with this list's ability to go wide past your opponent's defenses.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sram&#039;s Expertise" href="#" target="_blank">Sram&#039;s Expertise</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: The play pattern of this card is wild in this 99. Since it's a noncreature spell, and it allows you to cast another card for free, you could end up with five new tokens once the dust settles.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Myr Battlesphere" href="#" target="_blank">Myr Battlesphere</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: Since <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Vraska, Soul of Stone" href="#" target="_blank">Vraska, Soul of Stone</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> hands out vigilance to your team, it leads to an interesting interaction once you move to combat with this creature. All of your Myr can attack, and since they don't have to tap to do so, you can get the added benefit of dealing out a whole lot of damage with the Battlesphere by turning them (not-)sideways in order to buff it up and throw some punishment at someone's face.</li>
</ul>
<h2>Closing Out the Game</h2>

This Robot animates some of your noncreature artifacts and gives out some very powerful abilities in order to help you deal large amounts of damage as you move to combat.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Reckless Fireweaver" href="#" target="_blank">Reckless Fireweaver</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: As you can see, the majority of this deck is focused around artifacts hitting your board, which means that this creature could be lowering the table's life totals right from the early turns of the game.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Taunt from the Rampart" href="#" target="_blank">Taunt from the Rampart</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: Since your commander only makes 1/1s, it'll be important to help clear the way for some free attacks. This goad spell can absolutely clear house, helping you swing on your turn, and causing your opponents to go after each other in the process.</li>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hello and welcome back to an in-universe Commander deck tech! With <em>Final Fantasy's</em> release now in our rear view, and <em>Edge of Eternities</em>' release coming up quite quickly, I wanted to take a brief moment to look at a card from a recent set that I think could use some extra love. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I'm a huge fan of <em>Tarkir: Dragonstorm</em>, and the Temur in particular, so I'm super excited to take another look at <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Eshki Dragonclaw" href="#" target="_blank">Eshki Dragonclaw</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Eshki Dragonclaw"></div></div></p>
<h2><span style="font-weight: 400;">What Does </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Eshki</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Do?</span></h2>
<p>Eshki's got a few keywords on her that make her an ideal leader for a Voltron deck. First, she's got defensive ability with vigilance, some evasion with trample, and even built-in protection with ward <span class="mana-container-container"><span class="mana-container"><i class="ms ms-cost ms-1" style="margin-left: inherit !important;"></i></span></span>.</p>
<p>And, at the beginning of combat on our turn, if we've cast both a creature spell and a noncreature spell, she rewards us with +1/+1 counters and card draw. That's a lot for just <span class="mana-container-container"><span class="mana-container"><i class="ms ms-cost ms-1" style="margin-left: inherit !important;"></i></span><span class="mana-container"><i class="ms ms-cost ms-g" style="margin-left: inherit !important;"></i></span><span class="mana-container"><i class="ms ms-cost ms-u" style="margin-left: inherit !important;"></i></span><span class="mana-container"><i class="ms ms-cost ms-r" style="margin-left: inherit !important;"></i></span></span>, meaning we can get our gameplan online pretty early.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This commander is a fun design, and encourages us to fill our deck with similar amounts of creatures and noncreatures. An interesting push-and-pull, for sure. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This is reminiscent of several different commanders, notably the recently released <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Hraesvelgr of the First Brood" href="#" target="_blank">Hraesvelgr of the First Brood</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Both Eshki and Hraesvelgr have similar keywords, and provide some combat-relevant buff to a creature when we cast a noncreature spell. I'm also reminded of <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Krile Baldesion" href="#" target="_blank">Krile Baldesion</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, whose abilities ask us to have high counts of creatures and noncreatures too.<br />

<p>So, Eshki asks us to cast noncreature spells (and fill out our 99 with a strong supporting cast of creatures). But, there's a few categories of noncreature spells that we've got to choose from.</p>
<p>While <span class="mana-container-container"><span class="mana-container"><i class="ms ms-cost ms-u" style="margin-left: inherit !important;"></i></span><span class="mana-container"><i class="ms ms-cost ms-r" style="margin-left: inherit !important;"></i></span></span>-centric decks may lean well into Spellslinger synergies with cards like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Archmage of Runes" href="#" target="_blank">Archmage of Runes</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, I want to take a slightly more unique approach.</p>
<p>We'll be making use of Auras to make a hybrid Enchantress-Voltron list centered around beating face with our commander! So, let's get right into it!</p>
<h2><span style="font-weight: 400;">Key Cards for Eshki</span></h2>
<p>There's a full 28 enchantments in this deck, so let's talk about a few of the best ones. My personal favorite is <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Hadana&#039;s Climb" href="#" target="_blank">Hadana&#039;s Climb</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, which will usually flip into a super powerful land the same turn we cast it.</p>
<p>Its back side can either be a nice multicolor land OR a way to end games quickly, and that flexibility is super valuable here.</p>
<p>I also really like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Spider Umbra" href="#" target="_blank">Spider Umbra</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> in this list. It does everything we want out of an Aura: it's as cheap as an Aura can be, it buffs our commander's blocking abilities, and even protects our commander from the removal our opponents will surely throw at it.</p>
<p>Rounding out the best Auras in this deck is <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Strong Back" href="#" target="_blank">Strong Back</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>. This card is a cheaper version of <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Auramancer&#039;s Guise" href="#" target="_blank">Auramancer&#039;s Guise</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> (which is also here) and reduces the casting cost of pretty much every other Aura we'll cast for the remainder of the game.</p>
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Hadana&#039;s Climb"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Spider Umbra"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Strong Back"></div></div>
<p>There's a few more auras that work particularly well in this deck, so let's touch on those briefly. <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Shimmering Wings" href="#" target="_blank">Shimmering Wings</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is a relatively innocuous card, but it can trigger our commander and other cards that care about us casting enchantment spells over and over again.</p>
<p>Because Eshki provides so much value when we can cast both a creature and a noncreature spell, it's great to always have a noncreature spell available with this Aura.</p>
<p><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Whip Silk" href="#" target="_blank">Whip Silk</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Crown of Flames" href="#" target="_blank">Crown of Flames</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> do pretty much the same thing, but I didn't want to clog the deck's 99 with too many Auras without consequential on-board effects.</p>
<p><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Bramble Familiar" href="#" target="_blank">Bramble Familiar</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> has the same effect on a creature, plus a super useful adventure, so it's found a spot in the deck too. <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Hydra&#039;s Growth" href="#" target="_blank">Hydra&#039;s Growth</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> works wonders with our commander too.</p>
<p>Because Eshki naturally gains +1/+1 counters, this card will typically provide huge power and toughness buffs after just a few turns on the board.</p>

<p>Now, let's talk about the creatures that support our gameplan. First, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Eutropia the Twice-Favored" href="#" target="_blank">Eutropia the Twice-Favored</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> provides extra evasion and +1/+1 counters to our commander, making her even more lethal.</p>

<p>Speaking of mana production, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Fanatic of Rhonas" href="#" target="_blank">Fanatic of Rhonas</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Ilysian Caryatid" href="#" target="_blank">Ilysian Caryatid</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> both provide extra mana with our commander on the battlefield. They slot very nicely into our early game curve, and can accelerate us towards the mid/late game with ease.</p>

<h2><span style="font-weight: 400;">How Does This Deck Win?</span></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This deck, as all good Voltron decks do, tries to hit our opponents hard and fast. By buffing our commander with auras like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Colossification" href="#" target="_blank">Colossification</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and creatrures like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Nylea&#039;s Colossus" href="#" target="_blank">Nylea&#039;s Colossus</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, we'll try to knock out our opponents in just a few combat steps.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Eshki's card draw and self-buffing capabilities only accelerate that plan, and we'll usually end the game after a few big swings with a suited-up commander.</span></p>

<p>But, Eshki's power makes her a prime target for our opponents' removal. We'll sometimes need other creatures to put our Auras onto, so cards like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Callaphe, Beloved of the Sea" href="#" target="_blank">Callaphe, Beloved of the Sea</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Dragon&#039;s Rage Channeler" href="#" target="_blank">Dragon&#039;s Rage Channeler</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Wildsear, Scouring Maw" href="#" target="_blank">Wildsear, Scouring Maw</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> can turn from role players to star players if need be.</p>
<p>Each of these cards can serve as a nice target for our Auras in the event of our commander's absence, and having them as an alternative makes it easier to recover from unfavorable positions in-game.</p>

<p>Our very own <a href="https://edhrec.com/articles/start-me-up-tarkir-dragonstorm">Bennie Smith wrote up a cool Adventure-centric Eshki list</a>, but I'd choose to go a little bit more all-in on the Voltron strategy again. <p>This deck would be focused on buffing our commander using combat tricks, taking out players with temporary bursts of power to our commander that they wouldn't see coming.</p>
