<p>In late January 2026, the <em>Magic</em> community lost its greatest <em>Magic</em> Pro Player, Kai Budde. Budde, 46, was one of the most prolific professional <em>Magic</em> players in the entire history of the game.</p>
<p>Every game has its juggernauts, and then there's <em>Magic</em>'s Kai Budde. Budde's lifetime achievement list playing <em>Magic</em> is expansive and storied. He began playing <em>Magic</em> in 1997 and entered the Hall of Fame in 2007.</p>
<p>Budde's achievements include five Pro Tour titles (an unbeaten record as of this writing), two Team Pro Tour titles, two World Championships wins (one on his own and one in a team), seven Grand Prix wins, and four Player of the Year awards. This list is certainly non-exhaustive.</p>
<p>Budde also won the 2001 <em>Magic</em> Invitational, which allowed him to design a card for Wizards of the Coast. That card ended up releasing in <em>Onslaught</em>. That card was <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Voidmage Prodigy|ONS|120" href="#" target="_blank">Voidmage Prodigy</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>. It had Budde's likeness on it, one of the truly great honors for any professional <em>Magic</em> player to have.</p>

<p>Also among Kai Budde's impressive array of achievements was the fact that he is one of only a handful of players to have a Top Finish in each of four different decades. According to <a href="https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/announcements/remembering-kai-budde">DailyMTG's tribute</a>, Kai took these finishes between 1999 and 2003, 2011, 2019, 2023, and 2024.</p>

<p>Furthermore, Kai Budde was a loyal friend to many of <em>Magic</em>'s greats. William Jensen, for one, spoke highly about Budde in a statement made to DailyMTG:</p>
<blockquote><p>"The world has lost a juggernaut," Jensen said. "Kai Budde embodied what it meant to be the greatest of all time. By far the winningest Pro Tour champion in <i>Magic</i> history, Kai was not only a champion on the battlefield but a champion as a teammate, a champion as a person, and a champion as a friend. <i>Magic</i> and the Pro Tour are better for having had Kai be a part of them, and all of us will miss him greatly. Rest in peace, Kai."</p></blockquote>
<p>The team at EDHREC mourns the loss of this instrumental and prolific <em>Magic</em> Pro Player. Kai Budde will be deeply missed.</p>

MagicCon Vegas 2025: A Recap

<p>It's a scenario with which many are very familiar. You're heading to a MagicCon and perusing the mammoth list of artists who'll be in attendance, and wondering if there's an efficient way to search through your decks to see just how many cards you're playing that were illustrated by those artists.</p>
<p>To help, Archidekt has just announced a new "<a href="https://archidekt.com/magiccon" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MagicCon</a>" feature, free for users of the deckbuilding website. For the upcoming MagicCon Vegas, there are <a href="https://mcvegas.mtgfestivals.com/en-us/art-of-magic/artist-directory.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a whopping 61 artists</a> who'll be on-hand to sign cards, sell prints and tokens, and chat with attendees. And with Archidekt's help, you can arrive prepared.</p>
<h2>How to Use the Archidekt Artist Search Feature</h2>
<p>Previously, you'd have two options. You could have simply memorized every card done by every artist. Or, you could open up Scryfall, search cards by each artist, and cross-reference that with every card in every deck you've got.</p>
<p>Now, simply sign in (though it's not required) to Archidekt, choose your deck from the drop-down menu or import a text list, and Archidekt will tell you instantly which cards in your deck were illustrated by artists who'll be attending MagicCon Vegas.</p>
<p>And even if you're not signed in, you can easily paste in an export from another site to import into the program.</p>

Archidekt Announces New 'MagicCon' Feature for Searching Artists

<p>On Tuesday, May 13th, Wizards of the Coast revealed some new promotional cards during their WeeklyMTG stream on <a href="https://www.twitch.tv/magic">Twitch</a>. They also showcased a new card from the main <em>Final Fantasy</em> set. While the new card is in the main set, you can obtain the promos by attending various events or opening certain products from the release. But let's not dally further; here are those new cards!</p>
<h2><em>Final Fantasy</em> Promo Cards</h2>
<p>First off, let's look at the promo cards associated with the new set. The first is the Buy-A-Box promo!</p>
