Hello, everyone! Welcome back to another deck tech; I am <a href="http://linktr.ee/commandzoe">Command Zoe</a>. This time we're going to be looking at one of the new commanders from the Sonic Secret Lair, Knuckles the Echidna! 
Knuckles is a fan favorite character from the original Sega Genesis games; he was a rival of Sonic before teaming up with him in a later installment. I'm excited to show you this list I brewed up, but first let's take a look at him

Get it? He's the keeper of the Master Emerald, so he cares about rocks! 
Anyway, that's why I'm running Mox Emerald in here — that's cool right?
<h3>What Does Knuckles the Echidna Do?</h3>
Knuckles is a straightforward but incredibly powerful commander. He has three keywords that work well with each other, he grants all his controller's creatures the ability to create Treasure tokens upon dealing combat damage to a player, and then he has an upkeep trigger that wins the game with thirty artifacts. 
The idea of the design is to have him hit the board and immediately generate two Treasures using a combination of haste and double strike, with trample on there to guarantee he doesn't get chump-blocked. 
With only two power, he's not dealing a ton of damage, but that doesn't matter because the goal is to win Treasure tokens on the upkeep trigger.
There are three other mono-red commanders that care about Treasure tokens: <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer" href="#" target="_blank">Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer</a>, <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Magda, Brazen Outlaw" href="#" target="_blank">Magda, Brazen Outlaw</a>, and <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Magda, the Hoardmaster" href="#" target="_blank">Magda, the Hoardmaster</a>. 
Both Magdas come with some sort of payoff for those Treasures, but none of them are quite as powerful as "win the game". 
Knuckles probably wont be able to reach the high-highs of Brazen Outlaw, which is a cEDH deck, but he is a fun card with a very powerful effect, which would be perfect for any of brackets 2, 3, or 4.
This Knuckles deck is going to be within Bracket 3. It technically has three extra turn spells in cards like <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Final Fortune" href="#" target="_blank">Final Fortune</a>, but it can't chain them. They're only in the deck to be able to trigger Knuckles' upkeep-ability immediately.
<h2>Key Cards for Knuckles the Echidna</h2>
The main win condition in this deck is quite obviously Knuckles' second ability, so we want to rush up to twenty-nine total permanents on the board then cast both key card of the deck: <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mycosynth Lattice" href="#" target="_blank">Mycosynth Lattice</a>. 
Following that up with an extra turn spell will allow an instant win off of Knuckles when the turn rolls over to the next upkeep. 
In addition to these, two keys to the deck are the tutors to get them out. Everything else is there to push the board to thirty permanents.

To help get there the deck has <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Reckless Handling" href="#" target="_blank">Reckless Handling</a>, <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Inventors&#039; Fair" href="#" target="_blank">Inventors&#039; Fair</a>, and <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Goblin Engineer" href="#" target="_blank">Goblin Engineer</a>, which can be used in conjunction with cards like <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Trash for Treasure" href="#" target="_blank">Trash for Treasure</a> or either of Daretti's cards to get the Mycosynth Lattice out.
<a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Goblin Matron" href="#" target="_blank">Goblin Matron</a> can play a game of telephone to get it out by searching for the Engineer first. It can also snag a Grenzo, Havoc Raiser in case more permanents are needed but none are in hand.

Both flavors work! Trade your Treasures for permanents that make more Treasures! 

Instant board state cards, like <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Brass&#039;s Bounty" href="#" target="_blank">Brass&#039;s Bounty</a>, can be extremely useful at making the final push to thirty cards.
Playing it along with <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Magda, Brazen Outlaw" href="#" target="_blank">Magda, Brazen Outlaw</a> can go for infinite by snagging Lattice plus <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Clock of Omens" href="#" target="_blank">Clock of Omens</a>. Tap the Magda plus a Treasure to untap the Magda. Make a new Treasure, and use it infinitely. Then just sacrifice 5 Treasures at a time to spit the entire deck's permanents onto the battlefield, then finally win by sacrificing <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Anger" href="#" target="_blank">Anger</a> to a sac outlet and attacking with everything.
<h2>How Does This Knuckles the Echidna Commander Deck Win?</h2>
Getting to thirty permanents can be difficult, so there are some tricks to make a lot all at once.
With <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Krark-Clan Ironworks" href="#" target="_blank">Krark-Clan Ironworks</a> plus <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Song of Totentanz" href="#" target="_blank">Song of Totentanz</a> or <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Hell to Pay" href="#" target="_blank">Hell to Pay</a>, each artifact sacrificed will turn into two new permanents, effectively doubling the number on the board if there is a Lattice out.
There are a few other ways to do the same that take more set up, like adding <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Xorn" href="#" target="_blank">Xorn</a> and <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Treasure Vault" href="#" target="_blank">Treasure Vault</a> to KCI, or using <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Goldspan Dragon" href="#" target="_blank">Goldspan Dragon</a> as the Treasure-doubler.

I just need to roll a 16 or better, but I don't have advantage...
In terms of alternate win conditions, there's only one, since the commander comes with its own "win the game" ability. However, <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Hellkite Tyrant" href="#" target="_blank">Hellkite Tyrant</a> is strictly better in terms of how many permanents are needed, so it goes in the ninety-nine. Needing one third the number of permanents is too good to give up, and the theft ability is nothing to write off either.

<h2>Conclusion</h2>
Thanks for taking the time to read this deck tech on <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Knuckles the Echidna" href="#" target="_blank">Knuckles the Echidna</a>. I think he's quite a strong commander and has a lot of potential for upgrade into the Bracket 4 arena.

<h1>We're All Excited About the New Sonic the Hedgehog Secret Lair, But...</h1>
How playable are these new cards? Do they stand out? One that I'm particularly interested in is <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Amy Rose" href="#" target="_blank">Amy Rose</a>. Is she going to stack up to the Boros Voltron decks of the past few years?
<h2>The Stats</h2>
Before we can assess anything, we have to check out Amy's stats. <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Amy Rose" href="#" target="_blank">Amy Rose</a> is a Hedgehog Warrior. She's a 3/3 with haste and reads "Whenever Amy Rose attacks, attach up to one target Equipment to her. Then up to one other attacking creature gets +X/+0 until end of turn, where X is Amy Rose's power."

Initially, I read her and wondered why they focused heavily on Equipments. Most Voltron commanders usually have the option to dabble with Auras and Equipments, and for <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Arna Kennerüd, Skycaptain" href="#" target="_blank">Arna Kennerüd, Skycaptain</a>, +1/+1 counters. Voltron strategies are usually glass cannons.
Typically, Voltron encourages an all-in mentality about damage. What I like here is that it encourages multiple creatures on the board, trying trigger her attacks more than once, to make a more divisible attack. I don't know if stacks up, though. We'll see...
<h2>The Equipment</h2>
I think Amy wants us to cheat. We want low-cost Equipment with outrageous equip costs that we can circumvent with her ability. We definitely want a <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Colossus Hammer" href="#" target="_blank">Colossus Hammer</a>.
Play the Hammer on turn one and try to swing with Amy Rose on turn four for 13 damage, and maybe 13 on a small creature body like <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Esper Sentinel" href="#" target="_blank">Esper Sentinel</a>. Seems good, high damage is always the goal!
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Colossus Hammer"></div></div>
Equipment like <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Blackblade Reforged" href="#" target="_blank">Blackblade Reforged</a> and <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Wrecking Ball Arm" href="#" target="_blank">Wrecking Ball Arm</a> are perfect because they put out a ton of damage for low casting cost, which becomes a free equip on Amy. Cards like <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Nettlecyst" href="#" target="_blank">Nettlecyst</a> will compound with value as you push out more low cost artifacts for more damage.
<a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Excalibur, Sword of Eden" href="#" target="_blank">Excalibur, Sword of Eden</a> might be possible as well, later on, with the reduction of all the small Equipment, but maybe not. It's worth thinking about because it grants vigilance which Amy will need to adequately defend herself with.

<h2>High-Value Creatures for a Low Cost</h2>
It's going to be pivotal to get a lot of low-cost, value-engine creatures. We want creatures that'll survive after your opponents try to remove Amy. Resilience is the key that's often lost in Voltron strategies. The commander isn't everything.
I'm thinking card draw and interaction are going to be a big problem. They usually are a problem in Boros, Voltron, and combat-heavy decks. For card draw, we'll need to run something like <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sram, Senior Edificer" href="#" target="_blank">Sram, Senior Edificer</a>. Cast a low-cost Equipment and refill your hand with another card.
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Sram, Senior Edificer"></div></div>
<a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Puresteel Paladin" href="#" target="_blank">Puresteel Paladin</a> is another option for card draw. Every Equipment entering will trigger a draw. Additionally, it's low cost and could be a target for buffing from Amy. Be careful though, because Amy only provides power. Opportune blocks could kill your value engine.
<a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Danitha Capashen, Paragon" href="#" target="_blank">Danitha Capashen, Paragon</a> is keyword soup which is perfect for Voltron. She also discounts the cost for Equipment, saving some mana for protection spells.
She's also low cost, so you can anticipate getting her out earlier than Amy and then choosing her as a target for buffing. First strike makes her power more relevant because she likely can be buffed and survive the lack of toughness added by Amy.
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Danitha Capashen, Paragon"></div></div>
<a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist" href="#" target="_blank">Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist</a> is another good target because he can attach multiple Equipment onto Amy or himself. It allows for a two-pronged attack.
Ardenn could buff himself with some Equipment, then Amy could take the last biggest artifact, forcing out two great attacks. He's low cost, too, so he's right on curve for a turn-four Amy with haste.
<a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Stoneforge Mystic" href="#" target="_blank">Stoneforge Mystic</a> is so important for searching for the value Equipment you might need early game for the strongest lead. This gets the <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Colossus Hammer" href="#" target="_blank">Colossus Hammer</a> next turn. It's also low cost like all the creatures mentioned before which are great for early game damage output.
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist"></div></div>
<a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Esper Sentinel" href="#" target="_blank">Esper Sentinel</a> is pretty great here too because of the passive card draw. It's a low cost, turn-one play that provides a decent amount of card advantage. That can get in for damage if coupled with Amy effectively.
<h2>Protection</h2>
One the biggest struggles here is going to be removal. Your opponents will probably wait until you attempt to enter combat to nuke Amy. I think the best way to survive this would be running <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Swiftfoot Boots" href="#" target="_blank">Swiftfoot Boots</a> and <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Lightning Greaves" href="#" target="_blank">Lightning Greaves</a>. They synergize with the deck's Equipment theme and can easily protect.
Boots and Greaves are consistent and telegraphed. However, I find protection is better when it comes out of nowhere. <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sunforger" href="#" target="_blank">Sunforger</a>'s un-equip ability allows you to tutor for a <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Teferi&#039;s Protection" href="#" target="_blank">Teferi&#039;s Protection</a>, <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Boros Charm" href="#" target="_blank">Boros Charm</a>, or a <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Flawless Maneuver" href="#" target="_blank">Flawless Maneuver</a>. <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sunforger" href="#" target="_blank">Sunforger</a> is also an Equipment.
Another really sneaky protection spell is <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Clever Concealment" href="#" target="_blank">Clever Concealment</a> because you can convoke to pay for it and phase out your board from destruction or exile effects like a <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Farewell" href="#" target="_blank">Farewell</a>. <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Galadriel&#039;s Dismissal" href="#" target="_blank">Galadriel&#039;s Dismissal</a> is similar. It also works offensively to phase out your opponent's board for free swings.
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Sunforger"></div></div>
The standard <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Dawn&#039;s Truce" href="#" target="_blank">Dawn&#039;s Truce</a>, <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Loran&#039;s Escape" href="#" target="_blank">Loran&#039;s Escape</a>, and <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Surge of Salvation" href="#" target="_blank">Surge of Salvation</a> are good here too because they're low cost protection spells you can cast out of nowhere. <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mithril Coat" href="#" target="_blank">Mithril Coat</a> is a similar.
Most removal will come in the form of destruction rather than exile so <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mithril Coat" href="#" target="_blank">Mithril Coat</a> can be an Equipment you can use like an instant-speed protection spell.
Lastly, I think just forcing people not to be able to interact on your turn might be best. Something like a <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Grand Abolisher" href="#" target="_blank">Grand Abolisher</a> or a <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Voice of Victory" href="#" target="_blank">Voice of Victory</a> are great ways to ensure your combat shenanigans go unhindered.
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Dawn&#039;s Truce"></div></div>
<h2>Increased Damage</h2>
This deck strikes me as the kind that will like to win as fast as possible. We'll likely not be able to fight against slow, consistent engines. We'll have to burst in with damage and eliminate players before they can find the removal or interaction to stop us. How will we manage that?
<a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar" href="#" target="_blank">Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar</a> is a good way. If we can stack Amy with a ton of damage we can deal that to other players if she connects. In the early game this can be very relevant.
Additional ways to make Amy hit harder, like <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Duelist&#039;s Heritage" href="#" target="_blank">Duelist&#039;s Heritage</a>, might get us there early as well. Alongside Kediss, this could be a huge lead early.
Anything that gives double strike will likely need to be included, like <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Legion Leadership // Legion Stronghold" href="#" target="_blank">Legion Leadership // Legion Stronghold</a> and <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Halvar, God of Battle // Sword of the Realms" href="#" target="_blank">Halvar, God of Battle // Sword of the Realms</a>.
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar"></div></div>
Later on in the game, things like <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="City on Fire" href="#" target="_blank">City on Fire</a> and <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Fiery Emancipation" href="#" target="_blank">Fiery Emancipation</a> might be viable to triple the damage Amy and friends can deal; it could be game-ending. Speaking of game-ending, <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Full Throttle" href="#" target="_blank">Full Throttle</a> could be a very viable win con.
Three combats, three Amy triggers, three damage steps. Anything that gives multiple combats could work. <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Full Throttle" href="#" target="_blank">Full Throttle</a> is very pricey, mana-wise, but it could end the game for someone. <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Akroma&#039;s Will" href="#" target="_blank">Akroma&#039;s Will</a> is another win con. It's just a crazy card. No notes.
<h2>Ramp and Draw</h2>
Some of the biggest struggles Boros has is land ramp. We have to push artifact ramp and hit our land drops every turn. We'll need tons of mana eventually.
I'd run <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Thran Dynamo" href="#" target="_blank">Thran Dynamo</a>, <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Talisman of Conviction" href="#" target="_blank">Talisman of Conviction</a>, and <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mind Stone" href="#" target="_blank">Mind Stone</a>. We need to increase the number of artifacts we have on board while increasing our mana.
Another potential hot take: <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Inspiring Statuary" href="#" target="_blank">Inspiring Statuary</a>. Big spells, like <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Fiery Emancipation" href="#" target="_blank">Fiery Emancipation</a> and <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Full Throttle" href="#" target="_blank">Full Throttle</a>, could be paid for with the artifacts in play. It wouldn't help cast any of our Equipment, but it's a good way to ramp. A <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Land Tax" href="#" target="_blank">Land Tax</a> wouldn't hurt either to hit your land drops.
<div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Full Throttle"></div></div>
Obviously, if we can run <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sword of the Animist" href="#" target="_blank">Sword of the Animist</a> for additional ramp on lands on damage, we should. <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Armored Skyhunter" href="#" target="_blank">Armored Skyhunter</a> also provides saved mana on Equipment and is kind of card advantage. <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mask of Memory" href="#" target="_blank">Mask of Memory</a> also draws cards.
<h2>Conclusion</h2>
I've always had chip on my shoulder when I think about Voltron decks. It's usually an all-in strategy, low creature, high protection deck. I worry that it loses to too many other archetypes.
Wide strategies and combo seems to find a way to win against it. Without a way to give your creature vigilance, it's hard to protect yourself when you attack. It's a glass canon, shields-down strategy. I was hoping that Amy would be different.
In some ways she is. Spreading out the damage at least solves the problem of going all-in on one player at a time. She also free equips and can attack the turn she comes in, but it encourages attacking and zero blocking.
I worry about the crack back. Dealing high amounts of damage to one player simply rallies players against you when you often can't protect yourself against multiple different attacks. But maybe I'm playing Voltron wrong.
I like that in this deck it encourages you to have a board state with other creatures. It still is shields down but at least it gives your choices. I'm not sure it's much different from most Boros Voltron decks.
I would even suggest that it might detract from the central strategy that makes Voltron viable? I'm not sure. I'm conflicted as usual. Let me hear your thoughts. Is this viable? I'm @strixhavendropout on BlueSky.

If you've reached this <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Dr. Eggman" href="#" target="_blank">Dr. Eggman</a> deck tech with legitimately anything but the most villainous intentions, you may be disappointed to know that this deck, based around that most dastardly villain, is true to form.

This deck revolves around Sonic the Hedgehog's mad scientist antagonist and his Construct and Robot minions. Are you strapped in and ready for a ride? Let's go!
<h2>What Does Dr. Eggman Do?</h2>
<a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Dr. Eggman" href="#" target="_blank">Dr. Eggman</a> is a discard commander, first and foremost. His ability to either cause a discard or force your opponent to allow you to put a Construct, Robot, or Vehicle onto the battlefield is a fairly intuitive one for your foes.
Spoiler alert: unless an opponent has a vital response to something and need to keep it in hand, they will generally opt to discard before they'll allow you to cheat in a Construct.
In addition, Dr. Eggman draws you a card at every one of your end steps. This further fuels the options you have handy for cheating in an artifact of some sort.
Finally, as a 3/6 body for , Dr. Eggman won't swing in for much damage, but he's a fantastic flying blocker much of the time.
<h3>Which Commander Is Dr. Eggman Most Comparable To?</h3>
On the surface, Dr. Eggman feels fairly similar to <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Davros, Dalek Creator" href="#" target="_blank">Davros, Dalek Creator</a>. Off the bat, they're both legendary Scientist creatures in the blue-black-red (Grixis) color identity. They're both Universes Beyond villains, and they are both relatively evil. These comparisons can't be ignored. Nevertheless, the biggest differences they share are in the villainous choice they offer your opponents.
Sure, both have something to do with board state advantage, card draw, and opposing discard. The buck stops there, however. Dr. Eggman affects all of your opponents automatically; Davros needs opponents to lose life before their pain can truly begin.

As for the way this deck wants to operate, the strategy is that of an overwhelming force of Construct creatures, many of which are easy to cheat in with Dr. Eggman himself. With over 50 sources of mana and a glut of robotic creatures (if not Robot creatures), it's plausible to think the pilot of this deck will be able to power out the good Doctor sooner than players may expect, and then begin churning out value.
With the versatility of Constructs, the deck should be well-equipped to present many different tough situations for opponents.
<h2>Key Cards for Dr. Eggman</h2>
Various good choices exist for a Dr. Eggman deck. Here, I'd like to highlight two key aspects of the deck:
<ul>
<li>Strong Constructs and Robots for when your opponents make the wrong decision</li>
<li>Cards that punish opponents for making the right decision</li>
</ul>
It's no surprise that, as soon as many people looked up this Secret Lair drop, they were encouraged to "always choose discard" when they face down Dr. Eggman. This is widely the right decision; after all, better the devil you know, right? ...Right?
<h3>A Construct Toolbox for Your Hand</h3>
Fret not, for there is hope! There are those foolish enough to forgo discarding without the foresight to properly estimate the versatility of the cards Dr. Eggman can and will eventually cheat into play. To that end, here are but three notable Constructs you could see in a Dr. Eggman deck many turns too early:

<a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Cityscape Leveler" href="#" target="_blank">Cityscape Leveler</a> is less scary when cast outright, but it can still spook your opponents enough into reconsidering the merits of discarding that pivotal counterspell or combat trick. Furthermore, its talents aren't completely lost if you don't cast it, for it also triggers on the attack. To that end, you're going to decimate many different permanents with this thing.
<a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Scrap Trawler" href="#" target="_blank">Scrap Trawler</a> will also allow a Dr. Eggman player to keep a sizable grip on the deck's artifacts. If you've lost the aforementioned Cityscape Leveler, you might be consoled with the <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Roaming Throne" href="#" target="_blank">Roaming Throne</a> you lost a couple of turns prior. Lost a <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Myr Battlesphere" href="#" target="_blank">Myr Battlesphere</a>? Here's a <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Noxious Gearhulk" href="#" target="_blank">Noxious Gearhulk</a> for your pains. The possibilities are expansive and oh, so diabolical!
Let's also discuss <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Cryptothrall" href="#" target="_blank">Cryptothrall</a>. With as simple an ability as giving your artifact creatures hexproof, Cryptothrall is an unassuming threat in a deck with quite a few haymakers. However, when your opponents find they can't <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Abrade" href="#" target="_blank">Abrade</a> your other options, they'll realize they have to focus down a less overt card to get to anything else.
That's pretty evil, in all the best ways!
<h3>Forcing Discards</h3>
Plenty of cards exist in the general realm of Constructs for a commander like Dr. Eggman, and we'll get to them shortly. But how do we encourage opponents to decide to forgo discarding?
Three kinds of cards exist to assist this line of discard discouragement. Two are extremely familiar to most players experienced with discard themes in Commander. There's one more kind of card in this overarching category that is less obvious, although it's on the more salt-inducing end of things.

Damage Upon Discard: Cards such as <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Megrim" href="#" target="_blank">Megrim</a>, <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Liliana&#039;s Caress" href="#" target="_blank">Liliana&#039;s Caress</a>, and similar all deal damage to an opponent upon discarding. These can add up to more damage than an opponent may feel comfortable taking. At the same time, they're also losing a valuable card in hand, so this eases the stress of a painful decision.
Benefits Upon Discard: Roughly in the same vein as dealing damage upon discard, cards like <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Waste Not" href="#" target="_blank">Waste Not</a> provide you with bonuses for making your opponent discard.
As such, perhaps your opponent doesn't want you to have an extra Zombie token blocker or draw an additional card. So, they'll discard a land (or allow you to cheat in a Construct) instead. Forcing the decision to make itself is a very strong tool in your arsenal.
Informed Hand Control: This is a more subtle way to force your opponents to discard cards. If your opponents' hands are pretty full, it helps to know why. Therefore, cards like <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Telepathy" href="#" target="_blank">Telepathy</a> or <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Glasses of Urza" href="#" target="_blank">Glasses of Urza</a> are prime pieces to use here. They allow you to both make informed decisions and strongarm opponents with a political factor.
Of the two, I prefer Glasses of Urza. With it, you can focus the fear upon other opponents by looking at one opponent's hand and monitoring their otherwise hidden hand. You're snooping, as usual, and that's only fair!
<h2>How Does Dr. Eggman Win?</h2>
Put simply, Dr. Eggman wants to run your opponents well out of options while slowly amassing a robotic legion and then overrunning them with said legion.
Notably, there are a few cards that allow you to double up on villainous choices and other abilities. When you have a critical mass of automatons and your opponents have no ready means of dealing with them, you'll be able to win in practically no time at all.

He's similar to Davros in his triggering of a tough villainous choice. He's also very similar to <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Kefka, Court Mage" href="#" target="_blank">Kefka, Court Mage</a> in many related ways as well.
