Phew, what a week, am I right? Hey, it's GGards again: designer, dev, and meat popsicle on the EDHREC team that brought you the new EDHREC redesign.
This past week we have been hard at work squashing bugssquashing bugs, responding to feedback and making improvements.
The response has been, uh, impassionedimpassioned at times, but I really want to underline how closely we are listening to the community and acting as quickly as we can.
Here are some major changes made since the redesign launch:
1. Restored the click-to-copy card name to text clipboard feature
This was an oversight during the migration, but we brought it back after only a couple hours!
2. Reduced the size of cards in the gallery

Before (top) and after (bottom) for card sizes. Lorge into smoller
A lot of people pointed out that the cards in the card rec gallery were a little too largelarge. We agree! So we updated card sizes to be much closer to what they were pre-redesign. The small size is still available to shrink 'em down as you see fit.
3. Disabled some mouse hover tooltips, increased the time to show others
In particular, the Art Chooser button was showing a tooltip on mouse hover which could be pretty annoying. Now you need to click to see that tooltip.
We also increased the time needed to mouse hover before other tooltips will appear to avoid accidentally triggering them while scrolling around.
4. Improved featured hero area layouts for tablets and laptops

Before (left) and after (right) for a better organized featured hero area
Some of the medium-width layouts were a bit awkward, so we took another look and optimized them.
We are now making better and more intentional use of the space available for these devices.
5. Big upgrades for light mode

Before (top) and after (bottom) for a lighter light mode that's lighter
Initially, my approach to light mode was to make it high-contrast, but we re-evaluated and made light mode much more, well, light!
We also dramatically reduced the footprint of the background card art in the featured hero area.
6. Tags are back on Commander pages
Tags on commander pages are indeed pretty informative, useful and cool, so the most popular tags are back to being front-and-center on commander pages.

Some thoughts
This has been a whirlwindwhirlwind of a week for me and the team. I strongly feel we accomplished a ton of positive change extremely quickly to address solid concerns, constructive feedback and bugs that popped up.
We ain't stopping anytime soon either; please do keep an eye out for the changelog article series where we will keep you up-to-date on what we are up to.
What's next?
More more more. A website is never finished, and we have plenty more to fix, address, and build.
For everyone reading this: thank you, and don't hesitate to comment here or submit our feedback form with your thoughts, feedback, or favorite recipes for beef wellington.
If you experience a bug please do submit a bug report. In particular, if you are experiencing performance issues with the site in any way, we would like as much detail from you as possible as it is the primary item on our docket.
The EDHREC team is listening super closely, working very hard, and most of all, doing everything it can to convince me not to build a ZirdaZirda stax hatebear combo deck to bring to our next company meetup. Happy brewing, nerds!
GGards
Garrett Gardner, a.k.a. GGards, is a software engineer, UI/UX designer and member of the EDHREC dev team. In his spare time, Garrett likes streaming Magic Arena drafts on Twitch (after all, limited is the best Magic format). He was also the co-host of the Magic limited podcast Mystical Dispute which he very much misses doing with his retired co-host. His favorite commander is The Gitrog Monster, because Golgari is death, and Golgari is life.
