EDHREC Launches EDHREC Classic!
Given the popularity of nostalgic formats across major hobbies, EDHREC has decided to launch its newest feature: EDHREC Classic. Similar to World of Warcraft Classic, EDHREC has relaunched for players yearning for the site in its infancy. Nostalgia-driven formats have seen a rise recently, so EDHREC Classic is able to provide the 2016 experience for all players.

EDHREC Classic brings back the look and feel of having to play Elder Dragon Highlander before the surge in popularity. Over-costed interaction, limited but dominant engines like Phyrexian Arena, and best of all: no Treasure tokens in sight. EDHREC Classic gives players the ability to relive the glory days of the format we forced ourselves to love.
The site itself was designed with none of the tools or quality of life improvements made in nearly 10 years of development of the main EDHREC site. Commander pages feature none of the gaudy and elegant deck details like graphs or advanced filters. Instead, Classic just offers what is the most helpful for all players in cold, hard data. If you wanted to ACTUALLY earn a good card recommendation, now is your chance.
Nostalgia For All
Some players may not have been playing back in 2016 and missed their chance to see Temple of the False God recommended for nearly all decks. Who doesn't love the vintage feel of a tool showing the vast five or more options for their three-color decks? Users will truly will be overwhelmed with the amount of information contained in EDHREC Classic.
Do you miss the days when Leovold, Emissary of Trest was a viable option to cast such format staples as Well of Ideas? Now is your chance to relive what that weird guy at your local game shop describes as "Magic's glory days." He also believes that Splinter Twin isn't actually the problem and keeps the Summer Bloom decks in line at his shop, so maybe he's not the best source of information either. A personal favorite feature of EDHREC Classic by the development team is the lack of Universes Beyond commanders. When you combine this with the absence of legends with Partner, it becomes a dream for every Magic purist.
Another feature you'll notice is the lack of pricing on EDHREC Classic. This brings back the experience of soiling yourself when you see prices at your store compared to the newest website for buying cards, TCG Player. Information wasn't just given out to players, you had to work to find a deal. You may think that adding an Underground Sea is a good idea until you see the price. Who didn't love that feeling of being gut punched by the Reserved List with no alternatives for your mana base? Much like real estate, the best time to start playing Magic was 1993. You could have bought up the entire supply of Alpha boxes to prevent the game from ever being played.
With a mere tens of thousands of decks in EDHREC Classic's database, you can trust the data is high quality. Deckbuilding sites in 2016 were dependable and well built. Only hardcore fans of Elder Dragon Highlander are able to influence the data, keeping the casuals away.
