Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur | Art by Zezhou Chen

It's nearly the end of May, which means that Marvel Super Heroes is just around the corner. While we've already seen a few of the most recognizable characters from the movies and comics, this wild legend caught my eye right away when it was first revealed. Moon Girl and Devil DinosaurMoon Girl and Devil Dinosaur blends the archetypes of Artifacts and Stompy all on one textbox.

So, join me Tyler 'Savesya' Bucks, as I show off this super fun 99 that you can pick up for about $35 (using TCGPlayer pricing, and not including the price of the commander, since we're still in presale pricing.)

What Does Moon Girl and Devil DinosaurMoon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Bring to the Table

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur

If you've been looking for a deck that'll refill your hand, while pushing damage forward, then Moon Girl and Devil DinosaurMoon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is the commander for you. Turning into a 6/6 with trample helps give the list a lot of punching power, and drawing a card the first time an artifact hits your board ensures you're keeping up with the rest of the table.

This deck's main plan is to fill up your battlefield with artifacts in order to draw that extra card and make your commander into a big stompy threat. Since that's the main gameplan here, let's kick things off by taking a look at a few of the key cards that add artifacts to your board.

Adding Artifacts to the Board

Lonis, Cryptozoologist
Eusocial Engineering
Thopter Spy Network
  • Lonis, CryptozoologistLonis, Cryptozoologist: Here's a legend that's perfect in this list, since it turns any nontoken creature hitting the board into a Clue. Plus, it can come down the turn before your commander, and assist with drawing an extra card right away.
  • Eusocial EngineeringEusocial Engineering: It's always good when you can to turn a normal game action into value, which is just what this enchantment does. Now, whenever you play a land, you'll get an artifact creature token that triggers Moon Girl and Devil DinosaurMoon Girl and Devil Dinosaur's effects.
  • Thopter Spy NetworkThopter Spy Network: Since you're looking to build up the board with artifacts, you'll be in a good spot to get a lot of value out of this card. Creating Thopters and refilling your hand when those flyers hit people is a great combination for this list.
Ethereal Investigator
Collector's Vault
Tanglepool Bridge
  • Ethereal InvestigatorEthereal Investigator: Here's a creature that does a whole lot in this deck. Not only does it create Clues when it hits play, but it also makes you Spirits when you draw your second card each turn, which is exactly what this deck aims to do.
  • Collector's VaultCollector's Vault: Not only is this an artifact itself, but it's also a way to sculpt your hand, while putting more artifact tokens on the board.
  • Tanglepool BridgeTanglepool Bridge: This entry is a representation of the several different artifact lands in the deck. These add to your land count, while also triggering your commander's draw effect for simply hitting play.

Card Advantage

Mind into Matter
Deduce
Senator Peacock
  • Mind into MatterMind into Matter: Here's a newer card that is just great in this list. If you get caught in a spot where you need to refill your hand, this helps with that, while also throwing an artifact onto the board for free.
  • DeduceDeduce: This spell benefits the deck in a few ways. Since it's an instant, you're able to draw a card on another person's turn, then draw again when you create that Clue.
  • Senator PeacockSenator Peacock: Since this deck is looking to get as many artifacts on the board as possible, having a way to trade them in for card draw, as well as evasion will make the list a lot more versatile.

Mana Ramp

Everflowing Chalice
Kellan, Inquisitive Prodigy
Lady Octopus, Inspired Inventor
  • Everflowing ChaliceEverflowing Chalice Here's a card that not only scales well with the game, but also has the opportunity to lead to a tricky play. Since it could be cast for zero mana, you can just run this out for free in order to draw a card, which is especially useful while looking for an answer in a dire situation.
  • Kellan, Inquisitive ProdigyKellan, Inquisitive Prodigy: The Adventure side of this legend is the star of the show here, creating a Clue as well as allowing you to put another land into play. Plus, the creature side can be useful for some removal or card advantage when it attacks.
  • Lady Octopus, Inspired InventorLady Octopus, Inspired Inventor: This Villain loves seeing you draw all those cards, since it's poised to let you cheat out bigger and bigger artifacts as the game goes on.

Targeted Removal

Pawpatch Formation
Desculpting Blast
Prizefight
  • Pawpatch FormationPawpatch Formation: This spell has a lot of versatility in the list. Not only can it remove an enchantment or flying creature off the board, but it could also create a Food token and draw you a card at instant speed.
  • Desculpting BlastDesculpting Blast: Here's a great "gotcha" spell, that can still be used proactively. Not only does it hit any nonland permanent type, but it can also make you an artifact token if you hit something while it's attacking.
  • PrizefightPrizefight: Since you have a commander that can turn into a large 6/6 threat, throwing a fight spell like this into the list can ensure that you're taking a key creature off of an opponent's board, while getting a Treasure token for your troubles.

Protection Pieces

Lavaspur Boots
Smoke Bomb
Barrow-Blade
  • Lavaspur BootsLavaspur Boots: Here's a piece of equipment that doesn't just buff your creature while giving it haste; it also provides a little bit of protection, all for the low cost of one mana.
  • Smoke BombSmoke Bomb This artifact does several things for the deck by offering up both protection and evasion. On top of that, it has flash, which'll allow you to draw a card on another player's turn when it hits play.
  • Barrow-BladeBarrow-Blade: While this might not look like a protection piece, it helps your commander dodge dangerous keywords like deathtouch and double strike when you move to combat, plus it's cheap to cast, and equip.
