Steps
How does this combo work?
- 1Cast Deadly Grub by paying
. - 2Deadly Grub enters the battlefield with three time counters and a vigilance counter on it.
- 3Activate Tayam by paying
and removing the three time counters from Deadly Grub. - 4Deadly Grub's vanishing ability triggers, holding priority, activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Deadly Grub, adding
. - 5Deadly Grub dies, creating a 6/1 Insect creature token.
- 6Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing the Insect, adding.
- 7Resolve the Deadly Grub trigger from step 4, doing nothing since Deadly Grub is no longer on the battlefield.
- 8Resolve the Tayam ability from step 3, causing you to mill three cards and return Deadly Grub from your graveyard to the battlefield.
