Steps
How does this combo work?
1 | Move to your cleanup step. |
2 | Discard down to your maximum hand size, ensuring to discard Basking Rootwalla. |
3 | Basking Rootwalla is discarded into exile, triggering its madness ability, causing you to pay  to cast it from exile. |
4 | Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Basking Rootwalla. |
5 | When Basking Rootwalla dies, Enduring Renewal triggers, returning Basking Rootwalla from your graveyard to your hand. |
6 | Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability, causing target player to mill cards equal to Basking Rootwalla's power. |
7 | Once the stack is empty and all players pass priority, another cleanup step occurs. |
8 | Repeat from step 2. |
