Steps
How does this combo work?
1 | Activate Thopter Squadron's first ability twice by paying and removing two +1/+1 counters from it, creating two 1/1 Thopter artifact creature tokens. |
2 | Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing a Thopter, adding , |
3 | Crime Novelist triggers, causing you to add and put a +1/+1 counter on it. |
4 | Activate Thopter Squadron's second ability by paying  and sacrificing the other Thopter token. |
5 | Ashnod and Crime Novelist trigger. |
6 | Resolve the Crime Novelist trigger, adding and putting a +1/+1 counter on it. |
7 | Resolve the Ashnod trigger, copying Thopter Squadron's ability. |
8 | Resolve both Thopter Squadron abilities, putting two +1/+1 counters on it,. |
9 | Repeat. |
