What do I need to start this combo?
| Metastatic Evangel in hand or in your graveyard. | |
| All other permanents on the battlefield (Cryptic Trilobite and Basking Broodscale with a +1/+1 counter on it on the battlefield). | |
If Sakura-Tribe Elder is in your graveyard, you must have  available and three removable counters from creatures you control, ensuring to leave a +1/+1 counter on Cryptic Trilobite and Basking Broodscale | |
| If Sakura-Tribe Elder is in your hand, you must have enough mana to cast it. |
Steps
How does this combo work?
1 | Cast Sakura-Tribe Elder by paying its mana cost if it is in your hand. Otherwise, activate Tayam by paying and removing three counters from creatures you control, causing you to mill three cards and return Sakura-Tribe Elder from your graveyard to the battlefield with a vigilance counter on it. |
2 | When Sakura-Tribe Elder enters the battlefield, Metastatic Evangel triggers, causing you to put a +1/+1 counter on Cryptic Trilobite and Basking Broodscale and a vigilance counter on Sakura-Tribe Elder. |
3 | Basking Broodscale triggers, creating a 0/1 Eldrazi Spawn creature token that enters with a vigilance counter on it. |
4 | Activate Cryptic Trilobite by removing a +1/+1 counter from it, adding that can only be spent to activate abilities. |
5 | Activate the Eldrazi Spawn by sacrificing it, adding . |
6 | Activate Tayam by paying , removing both vigilance counters from Sakura-Tribe Elder and another counter from a creature you control. |
7 | Holding priority, activate Sakura-Tribe Elder by sacrificing it. |
8 | Resolve the Tayam ability, causing you to mill three cards and return Sakura-Tribe Elder from your graveyard to the battlefield with a vigilance counter on it. |
9 | Repeat from step 2. |
10 | Repeat. |
