Magic: The Gathering community, assemble! On Tuesday, December 9th's WeeklyMTG stream on Twitch, Blake Rasmussen and cohosts Rachel Weeks and Gabriel Luna (of Ghost Rider fame) revealed a bunch of new cards from Marvel Super Heroes. This set is gearing up to release in June of 2026. Therefore, it's a pleasant surprise to see the set previewed so early. Let's take a look at what the team showed us!

Marvel Super Heroes Press Release

According to a recent press release from Wizards of the Coast, Magic's crossover with Marvel continues with this set. Having started with Marvel's Spider-ManMarvel Super Heroes shows us some of the Marvel property's greatest heroes and villains, and the clashes they quite often get into.

The full press release says the following:

Wizards of the Coast today gave Magic fans an early look at Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes ahead of the set’s global release on June 26, 2026. Marking Magic’s largest collaboration yet with Marvel the upcoming set brings Marvel’s iconic super heroes and super villains to life through Magic’s signature gameplay. The early look was shared during a special live broadcast and streamed worldwide for fans eager to see what’s in store for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes—and more—in the upcoming Magic set.

The worlds of Magic: The Gathering and Marvel collide in an epic crossover filled with legendary characters, powerful abilities, and the unmistakable energy of comic book storytelling. From Captain America, Super-Soldier, to The Sentry, Golden GuardianBruce Banner // The Incredible Hulk, and Quicksilver, Brash Blur, the set captures the full spectrum of Marvel’s rich tapestry of heroes. But where there are heroes, villains are never far behind. Fans can also expect to see some of Marvel’s most notorious masterminds, including Baron Helmut Zemo, Super-Skrull, and the ruler of Latveria himself, Doctor Doom—making their Magic debut.

As part of the broadcast, Wizards of the Coast today confirmed multiple commander decks for this set, allowing players to dive directly into Magic’s most popular format. Fans were given a sneak peek at one commander deck featuring Marvel’s First Family—the Fantastic Four—with Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing all able to take the lead as face commanders.

In addition to thematic gameplay, the Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes set celebrates the look and legacy of classic comic books with card art inspired by some of the most memorable moments in Marvel lore. From Namor, the Sub-Mariner to World War Hulk, each design honors the bold art, color, and storytelling that define the Marvel Universe.

Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are assembling in Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes and will be available on June 26, 2026. With unforgettable characters, dynamic artwork, and thrilling new mechanics, this collaboration brings the Marvel Universe to life in a way only Magic can. More reveals and previews will roll out in the coming months as we count down to release day.

Booster Fun Treatments

Much like Marvel's Spider-ManMarvel Super Heroes has three showcase treatments for Booster Fun (at least, from what we've seen thus far). These include:

  • Classic Comic Book Covers
  • Borderless Comic Book Panel Sagas
  • Source Material

These are the same types of treatments as we have seen in Marvel's Spider-Man's Booster Fun, but themed for more than just one hero's adventures this time around. Here are some of those cards!

(Fantastic) Four Commander Decks

Marvel Super Heroes will release alongside four preconstructed Commander decks. As mentioned in the press release above, Wizards of the Coast teased one of the decks. That deck is themed after the Fantastic Four. The face commanders of that deck are below!

Additional Notes

There are a few bulleted notes to make mention of for Marvel Super Heroes that were a bit more minor:

  • Despite Gabriel Luna's appearance in the WeeklyMTG stream, there will be no Ghost Rider card in the set.
  • There is at least one Black Widow card in the main set.
  • The set symbol for Marvel Super Heroes is a comic book cover with an "M" on it, while the Commander precons' set symbol is a fully open comic book.
  • The art for the standard iteration of Bruce Banner may have a special Easter egg in it: The artist, Tommy Arnold, put a mug in the art that says "I <3 Tom" from what we can see. This may be a reference to himself!

Conclusion

This set looks to be pretty cool, although the Hero vs. Villain conflict continues from Marvel's Spider-Man. Though that's to be expected, we wonder how often that will reiterate itself.

Now, we want to open the floor to you, dear readers! Are you excited for Marvel Super Heroes? Additionally, are there any superheroes or villains you're looking forward to seeing as Magic cards? Sound off in the comments below!
