Cards To Add

1. Budget Cards To Add

Bag of HoldingBag of Holding

Bag of Holding

Excellent card advantage, and an easy way to trigger Quint's token creation and our other discard triggers.

Ghost VacuumGhost Vacuum

Ghost Vacuum

Ghost Vacuum has some fantastic synergy with what we're doing. It can even steal creatures out of opponents' graveyards.

The fact that the creatures come back as Spirits is icing on the cake.

Idol of OblivionIdol of Oblivion

Idol of Oblivion

Cheap and easy card draw. There aren't a lot of token decks that won't benefit from Idol of Oblivion.

Intangible VirtueIntangible Virtue

Intangible Virtue

Turning our 3/2 Spirits into 4/3s with vigilance seems well worth it for just two mana.

Summoner's SendingSummoner's Sending

Summoner's Sending

It does everything we want. Unless we want to get our creatures back, in which case we can just target creatures in opponents' yards. The tokens being Spirits is great.

Antiquities on the LooseAntiquities on the Loose

Antiquities on the Loose

From the main Secrets of Strixhaven set comes this reusable token maker. When we cast it for its flashback cost, we get to pump up our Spirit army, and trigger all "leaves the graveyard" effects.

Prava of the Steel LegionPrava of the Steel Legion

Prava of the Steel Legion

+1/+4 is a pretty solid stat boost to help make sure our attacking tokens have a much better chance of surviving combat.

Queen Kayla bin-KroogQueen Kayla bin-Kroog

Queen Kayla bin-Kroog

Bow to the Queen, because she truly rules in this deck. A repeatable wheel effect to trigger our discard effects, and she brings back cards that we discard to get more tokens from Quint.

Court of ArdenvaleCourt of Ardenvale

Court of Ardenvale

Repeatable recursion, plus some extra card draw if we can hang onto the crown.

Drogskol ReinforcementsDrogskol Reinforcements

Drogskol Reinforcements

Giving our Spirit tokens a big boost and some combat protection makes this Spirit Soldier a worthy inclusion.

Garrison ExcavatorGarrison Excavator

Garrison Excavator

This Orc adds redundancy to Quint's static effect, though these are 2/2s instead of 3/2s. Still worth it.

Neyali, Suns' VanguardNeyali, Suns' Vanguard

Neyali, Suns' Vanguard

Making our Spirit tokens punch harder, while also adding card advantage, makes this an easy inclusion.

On Wings of GoldOn Wings of Gold

On Wings of Gold

I love this card, and am frankly amazed at how cheap it is. Giving our Spirit tokens flying and +1/+1 makes them much more potent, and much harder to block. Also, we get Zombie tokens off the same trigger as Quint's Spirit making.

It's crazy that this wasn't in the precon. Maybe they just didn't want to add the Zombie tokens to the box.

Release to MemoryRelease to Memory

Release to Memory

Release to Memory is pretty versatile. We can use it on ourselves to make a bunch of Spirits - including a 3/2 from Quint - or use it on the graveyard player to get rid of their reanimation targets.

Bond of DisciplineBond of Discipline

Bond of Discipline

This deck is all about smacking faces with ghosts, so let's use Bond of Discipline to get all the blockers out of the way for a nice alpha strike. Plus a ton of life gained!

2. Nonbudget Cards To Add

Esper SentinelEsper Sentinel

Esper Sentinel

Not much synergy here, just a powerful card draw engine that we can easily get back with our reanimation effects.

GambleGamble

Gamble

I'm not big on tutors, but since we're trying to fill our graveyard anyway, Gamble just makes sense.

Cool but RudeCool but Rude

Cool but Rude

Level 2 on this Class is going to deal out a lot of damage with all of our discard effects.

Caretaker's TalentCaretaker's Talent

Caretaker's Talent

Card draw when we make tokens? Yes please. The other two levels are nice too, if we can get there.

Crucible of WorldsCrucible of Worlds

Crucible of Worlds

We're gonna be discarding a lot of lands. Might as well add Crucible to help us not miss our land drops.

Flawless ManeuverFlawless Maneuver

Flawless Maneuver

Protection from a board wipe is crucial in aggro decks like this. We have a few options in these colors, like Teferi's ProtectionTeferi's Protection and Dawn's TruceDawn's Truce. I like Flawless Maneuver here.

Monument to EnduranceMonument to Endurance

Monument to Endurance

Another excellent synergy piece for all of our discarding. Each mode will be relevant.

Renewed SolidarityRenewed Solidarity

Renewed Solidarity

Pumping our Spirits and making extra tokens make this a worthwhile inclusion.

Akroma's WillAkroma's Will

Akroma's Will

An upgrade over Bond of DisciplineBond of Discipline, if you can afford it. This will usually be used for an alpha strike, but can also save our army from a board wipe if we need it to.

Anointed ProcessionAnointed Procession, Mondrak, Glory DominusMondrak, Glory Dominus, and Elspeth, Storm SlayerElspeth, Storm Slayer

Anointed Procession
Mondrak, Glory Dominus
Elspeth, Storm Slayer

More tokens? Yes, definitely.

Banner of KinshipBanner of Kinship

Banner of Kinship

This one's a bit tricky to play at the right time. We want to play it when we have a decent number of Spirits on the board, but not hold onto it so long that our opponents feel compelled to wipe the board.

Terror of the PeaksTerror of the Peaks

Terror of the Peaks

Quint's Spirits all come in with three power - or more if we have a buff on the board. That amount of repeatable damage from Terror of the Peaks really adds up.

Elesh Norn, Grand CenobiteElesh Norn, Grand Cenobite

Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite

Your friends will hate you for playing this Praetor, but your Spirit army will love it.

Cards To Cut from the Precon

1. Cards To Cut

Excava, the Risen PastExcava, the Risen Past

Excava, the Risen Past

Yeah, we're cutting another backup commander. I don't like it, but sometimes the backup just doesn't fit in. In Excava's case, it's the finality counters. Those just don't gel with what this deck wants to do.

Staff of the StorytellerStaff of the Storyteller

Staff of the Storyteller

Idol of OblivionIdol of Oblivion doesn't enter with a token, but it's just so much more efficient than this.

White Orchid PhantomWhite Orchid Phantom

White Orchid Phantom

Sometimes it's great to have a way to destroy nonbasic lands. But in a lot of games it's just not worth taking up a card slot.

DrumbellowerDrumbellower

Drumbellower

Intangible VirtueIntangible Virtue is much better for us than this easy-to-kill creature.

Guardian of FaithGuardian of Faith

Guardian of Faith

It's an okay protection piece, but only okay. We can do better.

Monologue TaxMonologue Tax

Monologue Tax

I'm not a fan of Monologue Tax. There, I said it. I'll cut this card from any precon.

Naktamun LorespinnerNaktamun Lorespinner

Naktamun Lorespinner

How often will players have one or fewer cards in hand? Not often enough for this to deserve a spot. If it entered prepared, I'd be a bit more accepting.

Secret RendezvousSecret Rendezvous

Secret Rendezvous

We've got enough solid card draw that we don't need to play nice.

Seize the SpoilsSeize the Spoils

Seize the Spoils

This is a decent card. But we've got better options.

Spirit of ResilienceSpirit of Resilience

Spirit of Resilience

I got hung up on this one. There will be situations where it's pretty cool. But also situations where it does nothing. Without seeing it played, I don't have a good feeling about it.

Venerable WarsingerVenerable Warsinger

Venerable Warsinger

How much damage are we expecting to deal to an opponent with a 3/3? I wouldn't expect very much.

AngerAnger

Anger

This is one of those cards that could conceivably go in any red deck. But do we really need haste that bad? I'm not convinced.

Atsushi, the Blazing SkyAtsushi, the Blazing Sky and Ao, the Dawn SkyAo, the Dawn Sky

Atsushi, the Blazing Sky
Ao, the Dawn Sky

If I were to make fewer cuts, I would certainly keep these two Spirit Dragons. They're not bad cards by any means, but I'm not sure they totally fit with our game plan. Death triggers just isn't in our strategy - even if they are good effects.

Karmic GuideKarmic Guide

Karmic Guide

There are definitely decks that can easily abuse Karmic Guide, but I don't think this is one of them. Without the ability to combo off with it, five mana is just too much of a stretch.
