The Grisly Salvage — Back Alley Magic, Yidris Thunderstorm and Wealthy Villain Gonti

Welcome to my weekly recap! I have some nice gameplay videos for you this week. We have a stormy Yidris, road raging Omnath and the wealthy villain Gonti. Also, get ready to get down and dirty with some Back Alley Magic.

Weekly Gameplay Recap

Yidris, Thunderstorm vs Olivia Voldaren

Atraxa, Killing Floor vs Tymna the Weaver and Reyhan, Last of the Abzan

  • This is a straight aristocrat build of Atraxa, Praetors' Voice. If you're unfamiliar with an aristocrat style deck, the goal is to utilize a sacrifice outlet and sacrifice your creatures with a Blood Artist type effect on the battlefield. With the endgame of having enough Blood Artist type effects to close the game out. One of the easiest ways to do this is with a mass graveyard recursion spell. This video is a great example of how the deck works, especially with Traumatize and Living Death in our opening hand.

Omnath, Road Rage vs Azusa, Lost but Seeking

Depala, Demolition Derby vs Kambal, Consul of Allocation

  • Follow Kambal as he chases Depala and her crew of misfit drivers through the city of Kaladesh. Goblin Rabblemaster tries his hand at operating the Peacewalker Colossus but a timely roadblock from Kambal sets her crew back. A rallying Start Your Engines cry from Depala helps her get out of the consulate speeding ticket.

Back Alley Magic (Modern)

Welcome to Back Alley Magic! This is a Modern series that GiantMonsterGames (YouTube) and I are teaming up to bring you. Our goal is to highlight the lower tiered decks of Modern and pair them against one another. Our tentative release schedule is the first and third Monday of each month. The match this week pairs Four Color Rally against Soul Sisters. We also record the video for both of our channels, so you can watch from either player's perspective.

Star City Games is running a Team Constructed Open this weekend in Baltimore. The teams consist of three members, with each team member representing their team in Standard, Modern or Legacy. Unified construction rules don't apply to this tournament either. So it should make for a very interesting tournament.

Format: Standard, Modern, Legacy
